Pregnancy Update

We’re getting close everyone! I am 38 weeks and our little boy is due any moment now. We had a doctor’s appointment this week and found out I am 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. We’ll see how much I progress this week! We’re getting ready for him around the Gill household. Check out my post yesterday to see what we decided for our birth plan!

What I’m Reading: I finished this book from my book club and it was a fantastic choice. I’m not reading anything else right now, because I’m trying to save my next book for the hospital!

What I’m Writing: I’ve still been keeping up with this journal. It’s really thought-provoking and I enjoy taking a couple minutes at the end of each day to reflect. I’ve found it doubles as a gratitude journal half the time too because I see the question for the next day and spend all day thinking about it and making note of things I could write about that evening.

What I’m Watching: Nothing. I am slowly losing interest in television and don’t spend much time on it. We’re actually debating getting rid of our cable right now because when we do watch television, it’s typically Netflix. However, I am debating watching Games of Thrones since that’s back on. I’ve never seen it! I know, I know… What do you guys think? Should I dive in?

My Recent Purchases: I’ve recently been looking for a good tinted moisturizer and was surprised to find that e.l.f. makes a great BB cream. For $6 I could not ask for more. It has decent coverage and doesn’t weigh down on my skin. It’s a great option for summer! Next time you’re at Target, pick some up!

What I’m Loving: Our baby’s nursery. It is all basically done now and I can’t wait to bring him home to it! It looks great! Stay tuned – I’m going to be posting about it this week!

What I’m Hating: The military’s lack of support for pregnant women. This week has been intense because we’ve been tackling many issues facing my pregnancy in the Air Force. Not only did the Air Force essentially “fire” me from my active duty orders for being pregnant, but they also canceled my medical coverage. It is a long, complicated story that I am not going to get into here, but it has left me dumbfounded to see how they have treated me throughout this process. I am highly disappointed in the military’s actions and I am actually debating separating from the military completely in April when my enlistment is up because of this.

What’s Going On With The Gill’s

This week the husband and I went on a date night. We’re trying to spend time together before the little one arrives. We also went on a hike to watch the sunset and test out the husband’s new camera.

I had my last day of work on Friday which was bittersweet. My job was highly stressful so it’s nice to step away, but I met a lot of amazing people and learned a lot so I am a little sad to go. My boss did present me with an award and an oar for my hard work. The oar is a Navy/Marine Corps tradition and my boss is USMC so I appreciate this gesture so much.

We spent this weekend hanging out with friends. On Saturday we had a cookout with a bunch of friends over. It was a lot of fun! It was interesting to see how our friend dynamic has changed over the years. Our parties a couple years ago were filled with drunk 18-20 years old but now we’re surrounded by married couples and children at our feet. We’re adults now!

My birthday is this week and we may have a baby soon so stay tuned!
